Over a year ago Cubs organised a hike, when we were collecting donations for Scouts of Nepal.
On the 25th April 2015 the earthquake in Kathmandu, Nepal, brought the devastation that rocked the country to its core, and communities there are still rehabilitating themselves.
Money that we collected, were sent to the World Scout Foundation and we received the report from them.
“Thanks to the support of hundreds of donors, Scouts, Baden-Powell Fellows, philanthropists and friends from around the world, over USD $150,000 was collected and with this support the Scouts of Nepal were able to provide food, water and shelter in the days and weeks immediately after the disaster, and are now in the middle of training hundreds of their Scouts on their specially tailored ‘Disaster Management Training Programme’.”
During the World Scout Jamboree we met Scouts from Nepal, that was a very nice experience – they were full of energy, very friendly and all the time smiling.
